What a September!

What a September! Image

The jewellery department has seen some amazing results over the last month with several highlight’s included in Colin’s Anniversary Sale on the 9th September. These fantastic results demonstrate that there really is no better time to have a rummage through your jewellery and discover what treasures you might have tucked away ahead of one of our forthcoming sales.

First up was this stunning enamel and gem-set bridal necklace, which realised £7,000. Featuring an elaborate double-sided design, one side was richly decorated with enamel and adorned with seed pearl drops, while the reverse was set with foil-backed gems. The necklace was finished with a classic silver corded design. Although its exact origins were difficult to establish, we believe it to be of Indian origin and to have been used as part of a bridal ensemble.

Next was this elegant rose-cut diamond crucifix pendant, which caught the attention of collectors and achieved £3,400. The cut, clarity and colour of the diamonds helped this classic piece stand out, while the exceptional craftsmanship elevated it above many other diamond-set crucifixes from the same period.

The excitement of the sale continued with one of my personal favourites. This diamond snake ring from the Victorian era saw multiple enquiries pre-sale and a well sought after bidding battle under the hammer, eventually realising £4,200. The design ran over four layers with ruby set eyes and truly was a sparkler!

Could your jewellery be worth more than you think?

At Golding Young, we’re always on hand to help with your jewellery valuations and selling needs. Simply pick up the phone or drop us an email, and we’ll be happy to guide you through the process.

While some companies may offer a price based purely on scrap value, these fantastic results highlight the importance of considering a piece’s potential open-market value, too. Factors such as age, period, style, maker and craftsmanship can all have a significant impact on what a piece of jewellery might achieve at auction.

Before you sell for scrap, why not find out what your jewellery could be worth? You might be pleasantly surprised!
