Rare Grantham Stoneware Whisky Flasks Up for Auction

Golding Young & Mawer's Wine Whisky & Spirits auction, will take place during the collective sale, at the Grantham Auction Rooms on November 6th, 2013.

Over 100 lots will feature in this specialist part of the sale and further entries are invited.

A featured highlight is Lot 401, two rare whisky flasks by Johnson, Basker & Fletcher. Johnson, Basker and Fletcher were wine & spirit merchants in the town of Grantham, Lincolnshire. The business which was started by Johnson in the early 1800s continued to operate from Westgate in the town until the 1960s. The flasks are 18 and 20 cm tall and read 'Finest Old Highland Whisky' in black transfer writing on the outside.

Also within the sale are a much sought after Louis XIII Cognac and 3 bottles of Erte Collection Courvoisier.

The collection - which comes mostly from a private collector - encompasses a wide variety of whisky, wine, cognac, port and other spirits. Popular names set to feature include: Glenmorangie, The Whisky Connoisseur, Cognac Landy, Johnnie Walker Swing and The Macallan Anniversary Malt.
