Rare Beatles Autograph Group to Sell

25th February 2013

A rare early autograph group (Lot 1) signed by all Fab Four members and inscribed 'lots of love from The Beatles' will be sold at The Grantham Auction Rooms on Wednesday 6th March 2013.

Autograph groups signed by all four of the original members of the band do not appear very often and are highly sort after by museums and Beatles collectors. This particular autograph group was obtained early in 1963, when the group had just recorded their first album and was starting to see some success. They were one of several bands who played a gig in Nottingham at the Elizabethan Rooms on March 7th, 1963. The compere for the evening obtained the Fab Four's signatures in their dressing room.

Grantham Resident Valuer & Auctioneer, Luke Handley, stated "Considering their career together spanned less than a decade, the legacy left behind by The Beatles is considerable. Their influence on popular culture, fashion and style has no equal, even now, fifty years later and cannot be underestimated. But it's the hysteria that erupted wherever they went that might be most remembered."

The autographs are framed glazed and mounted with the script: "Elizabethan rooms, Nottingham, March 7th 1963, show compared by Keith Gordon, Supporting acts on the night, Jerry and the Pacemakers, Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas, and The Big Three.
