Masonic Lodge No. 4613 Items to go Under Hammer

25th February 2013

Two lots with masonic interest are offered for sale at the Grantham Auction Rooms on Wednesday 6th March 2013.

Lot 155 is a masonic medal for Lodge No. 4613. The lodge began in the early 1920s in Palestine and continued until political unrest forced the lodge to close in September 1954. The silver and enamel medal depicts George and the dragon and is engraved on the revered Bro. H Player.

The second item is Lot 16, a late Victorian silver tea kettle and stand by silversmiths William & George Sissons and dated London 1897. The tea kettle, which incorporates a burner, is engraved with two masonic symbols, and has an approximate weight of 50oz.

Grantham Saleroom Manager, Andrew Doubleday stated: "The medal for the Palestine lodge is very collectable as the lodge is no longer in existence. The tea kettle is a beautiful piece and might appeal to the masonic collector or a collector of quality silver pieces."

The Fine Art & Collective sale takes place at The Grantham Auction Rooms, Old Wharf Road, Grantham NG31 7AA on 3rd and 4th April 2013. Viewing is open from 10am till 4pm on the 2nd March and from 8.30am on the 3rd March. Interested bidders can contact the saleroom on 01476 565118 or register to bid online at www.goldingyoung.com.
