Covid-19 Update Statement Image

STOP PRESS - Government changes of Auction Houses Re-Open Date as of 26th May 2020: We will now be re-opening Monday 15th June in Bourne, Grantham, Lincoln & Louth. If you have read that we were to re-open on the 1st June you did! That was correct for about a week before being revised.

Previously UPDATED FRIDAY 24th APRIL

On the 23rd March 2020 HM Government ordered the closure of UK Auction Houses to the public in order that we can best assist our country in fighting Covid-19.

New Entries - Postal entries of gold, silver, jewellery, watches, coins, medals and small collectables can still be sent to The Bourne Auction Rooms Only. Include your details, any notes about the items and any specific requests. We are unable to receive entries directly from the public during lockdown closure. However, we can accept deliveries from Commercial Removal & Logistics Businesses by prior arrangement that are currently defined as ‘essential’ service providers or have been given ‘granted permission’ status to continue working to a safe code of practice..*

Professional Valuations & House Clearance - Where deemed 'essential' by probate professionals, executors and/or the courts, a bespoke Private Client service will be tailored to circumstances. All valuations will continue to follow RICS Red Book standards & guidelines. Contact Colin Young MRICS on 07976 977169

Auction Appraisals - Please make the most of our FREE online Auction Appraisal Service.

*Transport, Collections & Removals - We can accept deliveries by prior arrangement with our logistics consultant of 40 years standing. The diary can be tailored to priority situations and ones that are essential and safe. Contact Andrew Lowes on 07970 742577

Sales - The entire 'physical' sale program is now postponed until the Covid-19 risk can be managed in terms of safety for staff and the public. New dates will be immediately activated to maximise the time slot available to the market goods fully at the right time to buyers. They will definitely not resume until after some easing of restrictions.  Additional ONLINE ONLY auctions will be introduced where the auction content is specifically suitable in that method of sale.

Vendors - Rest assured that as a firm Regulated by RICS sale monies are held in a dedicated auction clients accounts. Completed March sales with credit balances were a priority on lockdown and sent out as per the agreed terms. Unsold lots and new consignments will be processed as soon as we are able and it is safe to do so.

Sale Buyers (March & earlier) - Whilst over 95% of buyers have already collected lots from our last sales, here is a helpful reminder for those, or their couriers that were unable to collect by 5pm Monday 23rd, or indeed 5pm Friday 20th March as set out in the Conditions of Sale. You need to advise your insurers of the risk that transfers to the purchaser at the fall of the hammer. You will be able to collect in person once we re-open or make arrangements with an 'essential' services provider.

Sale Buyers (April & beyond) - As for the last 156 years, we are selling under our Terms & Conditions of Auction Business. It is imperative that you read these. Of equal importance is that you read the specific and variant sale notes regarding viewing restrictions, bidding options and collecting restrictions. As ever, these are express terms that are binding to the sale contract.
