William Bartol Thomas Paintings Featuring Folkingham & Boston

Two paintings by local artist William Bartol Thomas (1877-1947) to sell at Grantham Auction Rooms on 9th October 2013.

The Lincolnshire artist spent much of his life living with his sister on High Street, Boston. His took his inspiration from the surrounding beauty of the Boston and Lincolnshire landscapes. The scenes within these two paintings are ones many local residents will recognise.

Lot 401

 

Lot 401 is a view of St Andrew's Church, Folkingham and is painted by the River Witham.

Lot 402 is typical of the Boston area, a view of a windmill over a fenland scene in watercolour.

 

 

The paintings were brought into Golding Young & Mawer's Boston valuation day at the Princess Royal Sports Centre.

Saleroom manager, Andrew Doubleday stated: "We host a valuation day once a month in Boston. The lady who brought in the paintings, came to us as we see a lot of paintings by the artist, and have sold several this year already. It was nice to see two more paintings by the artist."

The paintings are both signed by the artist and framed and will be offered for sale at the Grantham Auction Rooms on 9th October 2013. Viewing is open on the 8th October and on the morning of the sale.
