'Do you do General Furniture Sales?'

29th February 2016

'Do you do general furniture sales?', is a question we often get asked.

Every sale is full of the exciting results, pictures and stories. But what about the humble and traditional General Sale?

Every Collective Sale includes a section of general household furniture & effects and thousands of lots are sold every single month. The sales are not headline grabbing but an essential part of our core service to sellers.

'The market isn't very good is it?', is a preconception of the more mundane and everyday wares that are sold.

Nothing could be further from the truth, as seen at The Grantham Auction Rooms' Collective Sale in February 2016.

The general furniture section on the day had 101 lots on offer. Without exception every single lot found a buyer.

That result and the sale prices were so good that Managing Director Colin Young felt it appropriate to serve auctioneer Andrew Doubleday a pair of white gloves on a silver tray.

Colin Young explained, 'A white glove sale is one where there is a 100% sale rate of lots. Usually the ceremony is associated with fine art sales and celebrated with popping a champagne cork. As it was a humble general sale the click of the kettle was more than welcome'

Whatever you are thinking of selling, we constantly produce fantastic sale rates and great prices, even for the General Sales.
