We are hosting a charity appraisal day, in aid of Riding for the Disabled on Sunday, 12th July from midday to 4pm at Manor House Farm in Queniborough.
Visitors will be able to experience a taste of the Antiques Roadshow at a venue that dates back to the 16th Century. The charity appraisal day will take place within a marquee on the grounds of Manor House Farm so bring out your antiques, heirlooms, jewellery and collectables for an appraisal of their worth as well as an insight into the history behind their items all in aid of a worthy cause.
Heading up the valuation team is Colin Young MRICS who will be assisted on the day by his professional team including Jewellery specialist Jan Squires FNAVA, Richard Plant MNAVA, and Craig Bewick FNAVA.
We are asking for donations of £5 for valuations of two items and £10 for more than two with all proceeds from the day going to Riding for the Disabled (RDA).
RDA, which is supported by Her Royal Highness, The Princess Royal provides people - with disabilities throughout the UK - the chance to experience life on horseback such as riding, carriage driving or show jumping. However they rely on voluntary help, donations and legacies to continue their services.
On the Saturday, we are hosting a Country House Sale, where over 700 lots from the estate of Marguerite Vera Boulter – who passed away earlier this year - and others will be sold. Marguerite’s family has a long association with show jumping, hunting and racing in the area. Manor House Farm – Marguerite’s former home – is testament to their equestrian history and RDA was an appropriate choice.
Colin Young said: “Riding for the Disabled have a group locally in Somerby and was a worthy and logical choice of charity to benefit from the proceeds of the sale. I’m looking forward to raising the much-needed funds for them both at the Country House Sale on Saturday and the Charity appraisal day on Sunday.”
Manor House Farm is directly opposite the church and parking will be in the paddock at the rear of the property. Doors open at midday on Sunday, 12th July so get here early to avoid the queues!
The Country House Marquee Sale is a great opportunity to visit a ‘pop-up’ sale on a weekend rather than midweek. It takes place on Saturday 11th July from 10am and features antique furniture, pictures, silver, ceramics, books and much more. Viewing will be open between 10am and 7pm on Friday 10th July and from 8.30am on Saturday 11th July.
