Change of date for Automobilia Specialist Auction (2)

26th April 2013

There's still time to grab a slice of automobilia history when over 850 lots go under the hammer at The Grantham Auction Rooms on May 8, 2013.

Auctioneers & valuers Golding Young and Mawer have delayed the date of their Automobilia Specialist sale due to an overwhelming interest from vendors.

Saleroom Manager Andrew Doubleday had this to say about the change: "We received instructions from a private collector with an extensive Automobilia collection, and arranged a specialist sale on their behalf. But when we announced the sale to the general public we were inundated with items within the automobilia genre. With the high response, we've had to delay the sale to give us more time to prepare the items for auction."

Automobilia is an interesting area within antiques as it covers anything with an automotive connection from cars and vans to tin plate toys. There are over 850 lots in the sale including Lot 1a a fine example of a 1963 Jaguar Mark II saloon which has been professional rebuilt by Flying Cat Engineering in 2012 and Lot 1f, a modern Fleur de Lys vintage style van originally built by the Newark-based manufacturer for Hood Carpets in Birmingham. Elsewhere within the sale there are car badges, accessories, books, magazines and an extensive collection of Mettoy tin plate toys.

Viewing will be open on May 7, 2013 between 10am and 4pm and from 8.30am on May 8, 2013. Interested bidders should contact the saleroom on 01476 565118 or register to bid online at www.goldingyoung.com.
