Clocks & Barometer Auctions

Traditional antiques still require full appraisal and identification before selling to increase potential.

At Golding Young & Mawer our team of Resident Valuers have extensive knowledge of horology, clocks, barometers with specialist consultancy resources can appraise your items for sale and provide valuations for insurance and inheritance tax assessment.

The market is ever changing in this area of collecting. Whilst some areas have seen decreased values over the last decade recent results prove that there is still desire for the best clock makers. A bracket clock by John Archambo of London realised £5000, a John Wood of  Grantham 30 hour grandfather clock (often difficult sellers) raised £480.

We excel with local names and Lincolnshire was prevalent with makers throughout the 18th & 19th century. With prices reflecting quality it is not just traditional clocks doing well with good multi hundred pound bids on Jaeger Le Coultre pendulum pieces and modern clocks of various modern time pieces reaching strong levels.

Barometers are similar in their appeal. A large single owner collection was met with with punchy prices recently.

We can handle items in large or small number and we promote everything to its maximum to find buyers and create the best vendor results.
