1024 A 1947/8 Wolseley 8, green, bearing foreign registration CY9902 (Ceylon), sold with the export/import documentation of 1995/6, Ceylon AA badge. Provenance: This car was bought by the vendor in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 1995, where the bodywork had recently been restored by taking it back down to metal. It had not yet been fully re-sprayed, as it was eventually to be shipped by container back to the UK. Mechanical work undertaken later in the UK is recorded in the documents which we hold. The vintage car enthusiast who was selling it introduced the vendor to the family of the first owners. They stated that the car had been imported into Sri Lanka in 1948 (independence year), by the then Chief Medical Officer of Health based in Chilaw, on the western coast. £1500-2000
