After graduating from Durham University Michael began his career as a junior cataloguer at Bloomsbury Auctions.
Within five years he had risen to Head of Books and Manuscripts for Bonhams in Scotland before going on to head book departments at several of the top regional UK auction houses and subsequently became a consultant for several firms, including Christie's South Kensington.
In 2013 Michael approached Golding, Young & Mawer and remains our consultant for books and also for stamp collections.
Most recently he has been involved in several insurance valuations of internationally significant libraries throughout Europe and also negotiated a book of hours sale to a leading UK University.
As well as cataloguing the important libraries of big-game hunter Jim Corbett and the country house sale at Newbold Pacey Hall in Warwickshire at Golding Young he also catalogued the £650,000 four sale Hayhurst Library.
